FUFUZELA is an ongoing participatory design/research conducted at HuMatLab by DK Osseo-Asare and Yasmine Abbas. The prototypes of the skin and the structure of this open-source Architecture have been exhibited or used as an exhibition setting in different exhibitions such as the University of African Futures at the Le Lieu Unique, The Museum as Home at Dortmunder U, and, Driving the Human. My contribution as a research assistant at Penn State over three almost two years was the development and documentation of the skin and the atmospheric effects of the structure.

The initial prototype featured a threaded design wrapping around the structure, while the second prototype, presented at the Driving the Human exhibition, envisioned the skin as a dynamic platform. This was an effort to seamlessly merge the skin and structure into an integrated living architecture, capable of modulating environmental ambiance to create unique architectural atmospheres.
